Wednesday had a handful of duties for mi,deadlines en appointments to convene, some of which i dint even remember were on my calender!!.......At 19:00hrs promptly,i was leaving the office for a rotary club meeting at Kabira club(bukoto) were i was sure coffee was a necessary(backfired!!)Only 3'new'members of the club were present en all three seemed in a hurry to go so the meeting was never there...home i was at 20:30pm![]()

...my cellular 'bleats' "..something about going to kitgum tomorrow. You were selected by the deputy on short notice, just forgot to tell you buddy." "Ok boss,so what time do we leave the central region"i asked my supervisor."...but i think 05:00hrs just so you start on work early, success buddy,ur reservations are already made, just get u a towel,a deodorant en hiking-garment.." How thoughtful of God to give mi a break at such a time of my life...![]()
05:27hrs we are speeding through the last string of well-constructed buildings in the central region and saying bonjour to 'equatorial' dust(GPS trace:Latitude 2 Equator and 2 north, and between longitude 32 and 33 east)the dust however is just but for a moment, now we are on gravel then shortly the tires en tarmac kiss all the way to Gulu(the pearl of northern Uganda)...more on Kitgum in a moment......
Nyamachoma at kafu,en Corner Kamdini(the junction were roads to Lira,Gulu and Arua diverge)
The road to kitgum is marram en dusty all the way,so we'talkin bout say like 116 plus kilometers here of discomfort..yeah the windows were up,AC on but the heat was all conquering...i was sweating profusely from my head to my feet, like Micheal Jordan in the fourth quarter of a playoff!!The landscape is a beauty, grassland Savannah, plains at times but with smooth rising hills overlapping each other like they are in continuous competition to touch the sky,a beauty i noticed amidst the dis-ease.We were welcomed with libations and ululations, the natives really know watsup!!
......it was so hot i showered thrice on Thursday en failed to sleep soundly coz the heat was severe en so were mosquitoes, something had to give.Inspite of all this i was determined to have a blast.I opened my eyes at 08:38hrs had coffee at 09:00hrs en was briefed by 'deputy'(the God sent)about the day'z progi.
Rightaway we start for the IDP camps(thats towards the border UG en SUDAN)several roadblocks en same ol warnings "beyond this point wanaichi,we are not responsible for your safety, watch out for landmines en on-road explosives" it was fun for one trying to get away from work stress en responsibilities, the more warnings the more my adventurous mind toyed with imagination..we did our surveys in Agoro, successfully ofcourse, the guy was with 'ME' people, why fail!! spent the nite there,a nice ka place not so elaborate,u hav a balcony to see the sun-rays rising from the horizon, becoming more faint as the night makes its entry. The deputy en i had a one on one that nananite, got to know information about him 'haters' would pay to get their hands on.
Laughed about marriage and bachelorhood,i dint know this guy had a sense of humor!!
We had 'gweno' chicken and posho+greens, abit of rice and cold bananas!!yes,we ate and were happi!!![]()
Morning saw us return to the trading center to pack...shared our love(saying bye to 'dep's' family) and made for Gulu town.Saturday was crazy...partied the whole day,site-saw en stuff,on Sunday morning returned from whence we came(central region)....
Monde was back at it...deadlines en appointments to convene, some i dint even know were on the calender....!!
Oh,this song i dint tell you about was playing all the way to Kampala
HOW DO U FEEL...BY ****
